Ideal collection of pianos

Build an ideal collection of period pianos from 1750 to 1850 (French, English, Viennese) accessible to pianists

The 1806 Erard square piano of La Nouvelle Athènes has been restored by Christopher Clarke, master of art. The dismantling of the parts revealed an early twentieth century restoration, respectful but anachronistic for the kneepads, which we replaced by a pedalboard, in accordance with French customs. Since its inauguration on February 7, 2020 at the Salle Cortot, it is accessible to members at ARCAL in Paris.

We will have to continue our efforts to find patrons and places to pursue the ideal collection: Walter 1800 5 octaves 1/2, a Viennese 1820-30 6 octaves 1/2, a pleyel grand 1840, a Pleyel upright 1830, a Clementi square, a Broadwood grand 1820 ... and other projects that require historical research especially around the Jean-Henri Silbermann, the first fortepiano introduced in France around 1760
