About the event
The Association La Nouvelle Athènes is associated with the adventure of the 1806 Erard Square Piano, restored by the master of art Christopher Clarke, thanks to the financing of which nearly 155 donors have contributed...
We are now entering the phase of sharing and transmitting the specific playing modes of the French piano school (Louis Adam, Daniel Steibelt...), in particular the art of colors and continuous sound thanks to the pedal games (lute, forte, celeste and bassoon). This art had fascinated Beethoven who will evoke it in the 3rd movement of the Waldstein sonata.
We are also committed to disseminating the aesthetics of early French Romanticism, where the Romance repertoire holds an essential place alongside opera. Behind an aesthetic of simplicity resolutely distinct from the operatic bel canto, these works require a real finesse of interpretation: from the canvas that constitutes the score.
You will be able to listen to two representative pieces of the French school: Le Ranz des Vaches by Louis Adam, l'Orage by Daniel Steibelt, by Luca Montebugnoli professor at the CRR of Paris and doctoral student at the Orpheus Instituut, as well as a romance by M.P.D'Alvimare " Mon coeur soupire " with the soprano Claire Lefilliâtre, and the keyboard player Stéphane Fuget professor at the CRR of Paris, and founder of the Epopées.
